On Monday, January 14^th, Boy Scout troop 479 held their annual troop muster.  At the muster, everyone wore their full uniform, and brought their parents along. John Barth, the outgoing Committee Chairman of the troop, gave a presentation highlighting activities of the past year.  Over the past year, Troop 479 had 41 scouts advance in rank, including Kyle Barth, who obtained Eagle Scout.  The troop also earned 142 merit badges as a whole.  About 20 new scouts joined the troop in 2007, and they are expecting much more growth this year.  The troop is also sending two backpacking crews on a high adventure trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico this year.  At this year's muster, the scouts also led several activities showing their parents the skills they had learned, such as tying knots and fire building.
